I wish the presenter would stop trying so hard to sound like what she’s saying is not scripted when her terrible acting skills prove otherwise. Just freestyle and keep it real. You’re not an actress. When I hear the Abraham Zalunga I fast forward or switch to another podcast. But the content of the show gets 5 stars otherwise.

This podcast is absolutely amazing! It successfully provides a peek into the diversity of the Black experience. Some days I cry while listening, or laugh hysterically, either way, I feel so seen thanks to these stories. Keep em coming! 👏🏾🤎

You can’t fight racism with racism. Uneducated and uninformed. The comments are shocking to me.

Listened to Carl’s episode first and hit subscribe immediately. So adorable and absolutely love it. Can’t wait to listen to more episodes.

Love the stories and the format. Only suggestion is to drop the word "unraveled" from the episode descriptions. It's in almost every one and it makes the episodes seem less compelling than they actually are.

It’s refreshing to hear black stories!

I wish people understood what racism truly is. This is a storytelling podcast I’m confused about why people are upset about the title. I hate it here

I may be white but my older ancestors fought for your freedom. Why are you blaming us. My great, great, great, great, great, great..... grandpa fought for your freedom. What did he get out of it? Did he get a reward for YOUR freedom. My WHITE family had nothing. They still had to work for their family. They lived with very little. They never had any other people give them money. But they never gave up. But that doesn’t mean that we have to show pitty on them because look at me. I am very blessed and I may be white but I do still face things in life. I do get mistreated by other people. But I look to things that make me happy. This is no hate to black people. I have MANY friends that are black and I don’t pay attention to their skin color. We need more unity in our nation and a podcast like this is making even more division. 🇺🇸🇺🇸⚫️ and ⚪️

I really appreciate this podcast. I didn’t plan on writing a review, but after seeing the hateful comments I felt the need to. This is a storytelling that is missing in the black community.

It is amazing how many people clearly reviewed this before listening to an episode. This show has something for everyone, and I love it! The stories are wonderful. Definitely one of my favorite podcasts.

Love everything yall are doing and it feels so authentic. On my worst and best days I can find something here to make feel hopefully in living & telling my truth.

Sooo glad I came across this. Everyone listens to/reads about Black lives from a macro, systemic standpoint (i.e. police brutality, segregation, wealth gap, etc.) but as an aspiring fiction writer aiming to forefront Black voices, it’s good to just hear regular Black folk of my generation just talk doubt their day-to-day in a real, honest, genuine way. This is gold.

You Had Me at Black is so heartfelt and full of life. Truly a hidden gem. So grateful for the artful storytelling and love that’s laid out in every episode. Truly one of the best out there 💜

Powerful storytelling

I read somewhere that storytelling is the oldest form of teaching. It bonded the early human communities, giving children the answers to the biggest questions of creation, life, and the afterlife. Stories define us, shape us, control us, and make us. Not every human culture in the world is literate, but every single culture tells stories. This podcast is important and appreciated.

Racist black people

It’s easy to boil everything down to race when you aren’t capable of thinking about anything in a more complex way. People are more than their race. But but but.. RaCiSm right? Racism is only bad if it’s oriented at POC, Anyone else it’s totally okay based on your logic 😊

Dumb, petty, racist, whiny complaining about non issues.

Not sure when it became ok to be blatantly racist against anyone who isn’t “of color”. The only narrative being pushed here is “see color”, that is a racist policy. Something to think about.
