Global Geopolitics

This course examines the global political situation from a geographical perspective. Topics include: how the countries of the world were formed and came to occupy their present territorial configurations; border conflicts and other spatially based international issues; struggles for secession from established states and movements for territorially based autonomy; and the development and enlargement of supranational organizations such as the European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). While the course is globally comprehensive, special attention will be given to current sites of geo-political tension. Maps will be used extensively for both descriptive and analytical purposes.

    Great course, very interesting and entertaining. Awful voice sound quality during audience questions. If downloaded to iphone/ipad, course was not supported by maps, so I followed it online every time entering through iTunesU "catalog".

    I mean, even in school wikipedia was a no-no, as there's no real author there. But in Stanford, seriously?

    An up to date series.
    The entire series down loaded just fine to my iPhone 4S. I lived around the world during my career and find these to be extremely interesting articles. As far as the accuracy, I cannot coment on that but if acurate, much has changed since my time abroad. I returned to the USA in 2001 after living for over forty years abroad. Including the Near East, Middle East, Far East, South America, Europe, and Australia.

    Amazing depth of knowledge and excellent lecturer
    Professor Lewis has an amazing knowledge of current geopolitical politics. I am a bit of a National Geographic junkie, and hearing these lectures really helped me form some connections to what is going on in different regions as a whole. There are great maps (they were small on my 1st generation nano) which are synched with the lecture. I have also listened to his Geography of World Cultures course and I highly recommend both of these courses.

    Great course but it cannot get it to download on iPhone 4. Seems to only work on older os.
